First of all, you cannot be out of status while I-485 is pending. Your H1 status is expired so technically you do not have H1 status anymore. However, if extension is approved, it will apply retroactively and make your H1 status current as of Feb 7th. Oh, forgot to mention that you can still work for 240 days after H1 is expired and it will not be counted as status violation.

I have a close friend who has floated a company to pursue an entrepreneurial dream.
My husband is currently working in US and has filed for GC (140 approved status). I have an EAD and am working in a company very close to where I am staying.
My friend has requested me to help market clients for the product that they are developing.. Is it ok for me to approach companies, as a representative of my friend's company and try selling the product(strictly non-compensational)? Or will there be legal hassles in doing this? Please enlighten me with your thoughts..

Tennesseans, I have moved into Nashville suburbs from Detroit. I have the experience of leading MI chapter for sometime (through the critical juncture of MI DL denying DLs to temporary residents).
I can definitely organize folks from around Nashville. I can also help guys from Knoxville, Memphis etc. form local chapters there if there is any interest in being active part of the IV movement.
Interested in you meeting you all and helping IV from Tennessee.
any motivated members can take up the challenge of coordinating activities and leading efforts. let me know if anyone is interested!

I did not make the mistake of sending her abroad, she had gone on her own accord and overstayed until her AP expired and now wants to come back (as I said some of these issues were not in my control).

One of my friend who applied for an EAD renewal got it approved. But it went back to USCIS as undeliverable by post office. So he calls USCIS and opens an SR, and the rep says that his PR card application has been approved and will be remailed to him. Which means, they initially sent the GC instead of EAD. Can this happen? His PD is not current, he is from india with a PD of 2004.
Also, after he opened an SR for this, he received a notice from USCIS via postal mail that an SR was created and that they are remailing the PR card and if he does not receive it within 60 days, he needs to call them.
I told him that they are mistaking PR card for an EAD card and its the EAD card thats coming back to him. Anyone here had such an experience?? And defenitely my friend is just not excited too as he knows USCIS does not even know to put the correct card name in the notice.

I completed the landing process in mid-Dec. We entered Canada by road. One advice - do not complete any of the forms, the Imm officer would do it in your presence. In our case, there were no issues/ questions related to the fact that we were providing a friend's address for mailing the PR card. We received the cards two days ago.
Do make sure you have the required docs to return to the US! You are right, the immigration processes are simpler and more straightforward in Canada, compared to those in the US.

This is a letter summarizing my process over the years, elaborated by my immigration attorney for the US Embassy in Nassau Bahamas where I renewed 3 times my visa H1B, However I have to renew it again and spend the $4500 + trip + hotel and food.

After you read the summary, will know how far are we in our process. Could I ask for a permit to work for her? How long would the process take to get our residence? Because according to my attorney, the immigration office is now processing the residence petitions made on Dec 2002, that means the is behind 8 years. Does that mean that I need to wait 8 more years? On or about September 5, 2005, Mr. Mizrahi�s new employer submitted a new application for Mr. Mizrahi. This new H-1B visa was approved on September 30, 2005. The validity dates of the new visa were September 29, 2005 until September 5, 2008. On or about March 8, 2007, Mr. Mizrahi�s new employer submitted a new application for Mr. Mizrahi. Is filing for 485 to get EAD etc really fraud? I mean it is their JOB to weed out the priority dates that are not current :). Besides if anyone is at fault it is the immigration lawyers.

you will see that people that got USCIS I485 receipts, are those whose forms reached USCIS on Jun 25th. That would mean that as of last week USCIS was entering in the cases that came in in the end of Jun. They are not doing July filers yet....
My best bet is that they will begin doing July filers in the middle of next week (7/25) or even later and we will start seeing checks cleared by that date....

1. Did you get EAD thru your spouse...???
2. If Not then being on bench is not good since you are on H1b. Try to to get employed...ASAP.
